Geneva women win, earn NAIA invitation

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. — Geneva won the American Mideast Conference women's basketball tournament and earned a bid to the NAIA nationals Tuesday night with a 67-57 victory over Shawnee State.

Allyson Clarke scored 27 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the Golden Tornadoes (24-4), who will play in the NAIA Division II tournament starting March 8 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Jackie Anthony added 11 points and Kylee Kittner scored nine for Geneva, which pulled away from a 32-26 halftime lead. The 10-point margin at the end of the game was Geneva's largest.

Walsh 78, Notre Dame 61

NORTH CANTON — Walsh used a 12-0 run in the first half to pull away in the AMC men's title game.

The Cavaliers (27-5) qualified for the NAIA Division II tournament in Branson, Mo.

Notre Dame led 15-12 with 9:37 remaining in the first half before Walsh's 12-0 run gave it the lead for good.

Brandon Weems scored 18 points for the Cavaliers; he also had seven assists. Adam Lesch added 16 points and nine rebounds, while Eder Araujo and Eric Love both scored 11.

Jerome Pierce led Notre Dame with 18 points.
