
Richard F. Alberini, Sr., 76
HOWLAND TOWNSHIP There will be funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Fr. Donald E. King officiating for Richard F. Alberini, Sr., 76, who passed away Monday morning, Jan. 1, at Hospice of the Valley-Hospice House, following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 29, 1930, in Pittsburgh, the son of Fred Sr. and Madeline Bubbles Calabrese Alberini. He came to the Warren area in 1940 and was a 1948 graduate of Leavittsburg High School.
Richard founded Alberinis Restaurant, with his wife, on Sept. 27, 1957 on the strip in Niles across from what is now the Eastwood Mall and moved to their present location in the fall of 1960, adding a wine cellar in 1985. The restaurant has become renowned as a destination for fine food and wine and has been a recipient of the Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRNA) Certificate for the past 11 years.
He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church and was an avid tennis player and snow skier.
Richard was a judge at the Los Angeles County fair wine competition for 12 years, which is the largest in the world. He was inducted into the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Vine in 1986, an organization dedicated to wine professionals and wine enthusiasts.
Richard also supported Congressman Jim Traficants efforts to bring the 910th Airlift Wing to The Youngstown Air Reserve Base. Richard was currently serving as the Base Community Council president. He was also honored by the Trumbull County Convention and Visitors Bureau for his many years of service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Oriskany.
Survivors include his wife, Gilda Iezza Alberini, whom he married July 3, 1958; a daughter, Sandra Pike of Upper Arlington; two sons, Joseph R. (Jennifer) Alberini and Richard F. Chook (Brigitte) Alberini Jr., both of Howland; five grandchildren, James Keating, Gilda (Arthur) Anderson, Jenna Alberini, Joseph Alberini Jr. and Dominic Alberini; two brothers, Victor (Ruth) Alberini of Champion and Fred (Carol) Alberini of Howland; and a sister, Madeline (Rudy) DeAngelis of Phoenix.
His parents preceded him in death.
Calling hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Blessed Sacrament Church, funeral arrangements were handled by the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel.
Entombment will be at Pineview Memorial Park with Military Honors.

Antonios J. Antonas, 81
CAMPBELL There will be services at 10 a.m. Friday at the Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, for Antonios J. Antonas, 81, who passed away Tuesday morning at his residence with his family by his side..
Mr. Antonas was born Feb. 21, 1925 in Kalymnos, Greece, a son of John Anthony and Ypapanti Mastrovaselis Antonas, moving to the U.S. and Campbell in 1950.
He was a pipe fitter in the seamless department at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, retiring in 1983 after 32 12 years of service.
He was a member of Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as cantor and choir member, the Kalymnian Society, the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club and Local Union 1418. He participated in discus as an Olympic athlete in Greece and he served his country with the Royal Greek Air Force.
Living his life to the fullest, he enjoyed hunting, Greek dancing and taking his family on vacations to Florida every year. He was an extraordinary husband, father and grandfather who gave of himself unconditionally.
Besides his wife, the love of his life, the former Evelyn G. Alesafis, whom he married July 17, 1950; he is survived by four children, Peggy and her husband Bill Sagy of Charlotte, N.C., John and his wife, Lisa Antonas of Poland, Pamela and her husband Craig DiRienzo of Campbell and Georgienne and her husband Louie Douropoulos of Campbell; three brothers, Mike (Tessie), Manuel and Elias (Galatiani) Antonas, all of Campbell; a sister, Beth (Nick) Christopoulos of Athens, Greece; and 12 grandchildren, David, Billy and Alexa Sagy, Tony, Michael and Alisse Antonas, Craig Leo and Ava DiRienzo and Erika, Bobby and Pamie Miller and Antonios Douropoulos.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wasko Funeral Home, where a Trisagion will be held at 7 p.m., and a half hour prior to the service in church on Friday.
Anthony Joseph Tony Babbaro
CHILLICOTHE Anthony Joseph Tony Babbaro returned to his Creator, Lord and Savior on Dec. 29, 2006, at Fayette County Memorial Hospital in Washington Courthouse.
Tony was born to the late Raphael Babbaro and Marie Yurio Babbaro on Oct. 26, 1916 in Punxsutawney, Pa., and moved to Youngstown as a boy.
He was a graduate of Rayen High School in 1936 and became the lead drummer for a dance band. He met the woman of his life, Irene Nemeth, and married her in 1942.
He was a butcher at Toths Meat Market and then trained to become a machinist and tool-in-die maker working at Youngstown Steel Door, Folgmers Manufacturing Company and Sheet and Tube. He further expanded his experimental machining career at Cornell University as the Supervisor and Instructor of the Student Machine Shop, Clark Hall, in the Physics Department at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Angelo (Louise) Babbaro, and his brother-in-law, Carl Clark.
He is survived by his two sisters, Mildred Clark and Ann DeGifis; his two daughters, Betty Marie Babbaro (Richard) Sandy of Chillicothe and Rene Babbaro (Charles) Brucker of Pleasanton, Calif.; three grandchildren, Michael Anthony (Jean) Sandy of Indianapolis, Carl Anthony and Margaret Elizabeth Brucker; four great-grandchildren, James, Claire, Emily and Joseph Sandy; nieces, Marianne DeGifis and Mary Lou Blazquez; and nephew, Ralph Babbaro; and many cousins.
Tony loved to sing. He started the graduate student Lunchbaggers Barbershop group at Cornell and was also the founder of the Ithaca (SPEBSQSA) Mens barbershop group. He loved to sing lead and always wanted to get a "tag" quartet to sing such favorites as The Ole Songs and My Wild Irish Rose.
Tony enjoyed family picnics, tennis, hikes in the woods, sledding, ice cream cones at Isalys and at Parkers Frozen Custards, swimming with the family, basket smelt fishing with his daughters and singing with his daughters at the piano especially Ave Maria, O Solo Mio and barbershop songs. Starting to golf in his sixties, he became an accomplished senior golfer always walking the course, never riding a cart.
Tony loved the Lord and loved the Mass. He celebrated them while living in Ithaca and while living with each daughter for six months in Chillicothe and Pleasanton. He faithfully went to Mass each day, was an altar boy at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a child and continued to serve in that capacity at St. Marys and at the VA in Chillicothe. He also belonged to the mens Cursillio group at St. Augustines Church in Pleasanton, belonged to the Rosary Group, led the singing to the Blessed Virgin, kept Holy Hour Vigil and went to coffee after Mass at both churches, kept the Stations of the Cross daily and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
We always admired and honored our Daddy for being the life of every family gathering by his ever present smile, kindness and words of encouragement by being the life of the party. As a dear friend in Pleasanton so eloquently puts:

We hate to see you leave us
We'll miss your wonderful singing and your happy smiles each day.
We ask our God to bless you and keep you in his care.
We love you and always remember our admiration that never ends for you!!!

Anthony F. Balestrino, 89
HUBBARD Anthony F. Balestrino, 89, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, in Lafayette, Colo.
He was born on July 4, 1917, in Hubbard, a son of Francesco and Ellen Adessa Balestrino and lived in the area until moving to Florida for six years after retirement. He then moved to Conneaut for 20 years returning to Hubbard in 2005.
Mr. Balestrino was a welder for GATX in Masury for 40 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard, a 1936 graduate of Hubbard High School and attended Youngstown State University for two years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving as a forward scout and translator under General George S. Patton.
Anthony was a great husband and wonderful father and enjoyed fishing, sailing and winemaking. He was an avid gardener and coffee lover.
He leaves his wife, the former Virginia DePaul, whom he married on Sept. 8, 1948; three sons, Frank (Earlene) Balestrino of Massillon, Bill (Laura) Balestrino of Commerce Township, Mich., and Larry (Suzanne) Balestrino of Poland; three daughters, Marcia (Chuck) Emery of Phoenix, Jane (Eric) Hagberg of Brookfield and Lisa (Danny) Morris of Louisville, Colo.; a brother, Tom Balestrino of Hubbard; a sister, Cil Mihalik of Hubbard; 17 grandchildren, Andrew, Canyon, Cooper, David, Hannah, Kaileen, Lauren, Logan, Michael, Michelle, Neal, Nicole, Rachel, Reggie, Spencer, Tara and Victoria; and two great-grandchildren, Mariah and Shelby.
His parents and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the Kelley-Robb Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Hubbard.

BOARDMAN Grace Berardi, 85, died Monday at Assumption Village in North Lima.
She was born May 24, 1921 in Benwood, W.Va., a daughter of the late Stephen Ciolli and Jenny DeFalco.
An East High School graduate, she was a member of St. Dominic Church and the Carovillesi Club and enjoyed cooking and baking.
Family includes a son, Raymond and Joyce Berardi of Poland; a daughter, Rosemary and John Morris of Boardman; two sisters, Eleanor Cardarelli of Youngstown and Anita Testa of Akron; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Berardi, whom she married June 7, 1941; three brothers, Albert Ciolli, Henry Ciolli and John Ciolli; and a sister, Mary Zarlenga DePiero.

Delores Peggy Fleming Breckenridge
YOUNGSTOWN Delores Peggy Fleming Breckenridge passed away Dec. 29.
She was born April 15, 1932 in Liberty to Pearl Ida Kemp Fleming and Mathew Fleming, the youngest of 11 children borne of that union.
She grew up in Liberty, graduating from Liberty High School in 1950. As a child, she was christened in the AME faith and was a longtime member of St. Andrews AME Church in Youngstown.
After completing high school, she attended Youngstown College, where she met her future husband, John Ernest Breckenridge. In the early 1980s, she relocated to Washington, D.C., where she spent the latter years of her life, retiring from Georgetown University Hospital. She spent her retirement years traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She relocated to Cincinnati two years ago to be closer to her family. She was a loving and kind person to all who knew her and they will cherish her memory always.
She was the beloved mother to Patience Elaine Breckenridge of Washington, D.C., Pamela Denise Breckenridge and Tanya Leigh Trotter (Carson) of Cincinnati, Ernestine Grimke Hendricks of Macomb Township, Mich., Ernest Kendall Breckenridge of Washington, D.C., and Pearl Ida Breckenridge of Cincinnati; grandmother to 13 grandchildren, Tyrone Givens (Danielle), Mary and Cameron Givens, Tierra Hendricks, Tamara Breckenridge, Natasha Breckenridge, Kevin Breckenridge, Keith Breckenridge, Chris Breckenridge, Janay Abolo, Jasmine Breckenridge, Rico and Diego Breckenridge; great-grandmother of three, Devon and Dominick Givens and Elija Breckenridge; and also leaves many nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. She also is survived by her sisters, Sarah Coleman of Detroit, Dorothy Bennett of Austintown and Bessie Robinson of Columbia, Md.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Russell, Carl, Mathew and John, and sisters, Ruby, Juanita and Mary.

Rev. Booker Thomas Brown III, 74
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Shiloh Baptist Church for Rev. Booker Thomas Brown III, 74, who departed this life Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006.
Rev. Brown was born Aug. 3, 1932 in Century, Fla., a son of Booker T. Sr. and Annie Bell Moss Brown.
He had been employed with Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company and for Albee Homes as a shipper. He was also a self-employed upholsterer.
He was a former longtime member and assistant pastor at Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was presently a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, where he was an associate minister, youth pastor, a student in the Bible Study and Sunday School classes. His singing ministry included managing and singing with the Gospel Spiritualaires. His hobbies were many but he especially enjoyed fishing, playing the saxophone and drums. He was an Army veteran and played in the Army band.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved and devoted wife, the former Margaret E. Ervin, whom he married June 4, 1951; four sons, Timothy D., Marion A. (Edith), Michael E. and Steven B., and three daughters, Angela L. (Mike) McCoy, Judy C. (Rev. James) Bowie and Karen M. (Maurice) Hobard, all of Youngstown; a brother, Booker T. (Myrtle) Brown II of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a host of other family and friends.
His parents preceded him death.

STRUTHERS Jennie L. Carducci, 88, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 31, 2006.
Mrs. Carducci was born Feb. 10, 1918 in Lowellville, a daughter of Nicholas and Concetta DOnofrio.
She was a 1936 graduate of Lowellville High School and attended Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville.
Jennie enjoyed her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cooking and baking.
She was married to Sam Butch Carducci on July 30, 1937, whom passed away Jan. 5, 1999.
Jennie is survived by her two daughters, Paula (Edward) Hawkins and Bonnie (Ray) Cox, with whom she made her home for the past seven years; five grandchildren, Kevin (Linda) Hawkins, Stacy (Tim) Koerth, Sean (Caroline) Cox, Michelle (Bob) Scheppler and Heather Cox; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters Mary Romano and Gloria Russo.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis.

PHOENIX Mary Jane Casciato, 89, died peacefully Dec. 30 at her home, with her husband of 69 years at her side.
She was born Sept. 22, 1917 in Youngstown to Pietrina and Stefano Carano.
Mary is survived by her husband, John; her three children, Elaine (Ed) Ajamie, John and Bob; six grandchildren, Tom Ajamie, Terry (Bill) Labadie, Jean Ajamie, Jackie (Peter) Labadie, John (Marnie) Ajamie and Heather Casciato; six great-grandchildren, Mary Helen, Joe, Danny and Kayla Labadie and Malia and Kaili Ajamie.

HERMITAGE, PA. Ruth L. Cramer, 88, formerly of Brookfield, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday at the Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage.
Mrs. Cramer was born Dec. 17, 1918 in No. 5 Mine, Pa., in Mercer County, a daughter of Warren T. and Euphenia E. Uber Grim.
Ruth was a homemaker. Ruth was a member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church since 1964 and belonged to the Altar Guild. She enjoyed playing music, square dancing, pets and flowers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Lewis V. Cramer, whom she married March 10, 1936, died May 24, 2003.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. (Dorothy) Cramer of Brookfield; two daughters, Carolyn (William) Cowan of Sharon, Pa., and Evelyn (Bob) States of Hermitage,; six grandchildren, Diana (David) Kehoe, Robert (Dana) States, Tammy Lynne (Mark) Takash, Rick (Cindy) Ciallella, Jenna Cowan and William Cowan III; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David L. Cramer and an infant son; and four brothers, Ansel, Joseph and Lester Grim and an infant brother.

Chris was born April 10, 1984, in Youngstown, a son of Gary and Linda Keslar Fitzgerald.
He was a 2002 graduate of Boardman High School and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
He worked at Smaldinos Restaurant and Wendys Restaurant. He worshiped at the New Life Assembly of God Church and was an avid guitar player.
He leaves his parents, with whom he made his home; his sister, Jennifer Fitzgerald at home; his maternal grandmother, Clara Keslar of Boardman; his paternal grandfather, Harry Fitzgerald of Boardman; his uncles and aunts, Thomas Keslar of Youngstown, Sheryl Keslar of Boardman, Maureen and Michael Stein of Poland and Brad Fitzgerald of North Lima; and his cousins, Troy Keslar, Nikole Keslar, Jason and Sami Fitzgerald, Tyler Fitzgerald, Mark Stein and Kevin Stein. He loved to spend time with his cousins, especially T.J. Keslar.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Frederick Keslar, and his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Fitzgerald.

GIRARD Mary (Sirochman) Franko, 85, formerly of Girard, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, at Sharon Regional Hospital.
Mary was born May 9, 1921 to the late Paul and Susanna Horvath Sirochman in Coal Run, Pa.
She was retired from Westinghouse and was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
She is survived by Paul (Arloene) Sirochman of Brookfield, John Sirochman and Elizabeth Mathews, both of Hermitage, Pa., Helen (Jack) Mott of Georgia, Kathleen (Ken) Murr of Stow, Susan Franko of Girard and Joseph (Marilyn) Franko of Niles; six grandchildren; and several great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Franko, whom she married April 16, 1966 and died Jan. 28, 1987, and a brother, Michael.
Private services will be Thursday at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
Internment will be at Girard City Cemetery.

Samuel Gonder Sr., 84
HUBBARD Samuel Gonder Sr., 84, died Monday morning, Jan. 1, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 28, 1922 in Smithmill, Pa., a son of George and Mary Wasylko Gonder, and lived in Hubbard for more than 60 years.
Mr. Gonder worked at GATX in Masury for 30 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard and VFW Hubbard Post No. 3767. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, having served during WWII. Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and canning peppers.
His wife, the former Edith Angelo, whom he married in 1944, died Dec. 12, 2003.
He leaves two sons, Samuel (Marianne) Gonder Jr. and David (Cathy) Gonder, both of Hubbard; a daughter, Mary Jane (Gary) Dattilo of Hubbard; two brothers, Andrew Gonder of Masury and Frank Gonder of Tyrone, Pa.; two sisters, Mary Chomas of Masury and Peg Johnson of Florida; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Edward Gonder; six brothers, Mike, George, John, Wasko, Metro and Nick; and three sisters, Anna, Eva and Helen.

BERLIN CENTER Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at the Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road in Youngstown, for LaRue L. Gray, 76, who died Tuesday at her residence.
She was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Youngstown, a daughter of Theodore and Gertrude Redman Hollander, and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Gray was a 1948 graduate of South High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the church and Eagles No. 213. LaRue enjoyed bingo and bowling and loved animals.
Her husband, Joseph T. Gray Jr., whom she married May 22, 1951, died Dec. 31, 1983.
She leaves two daughters, Lynn (Stephen) Mokrovich of Villa Hills, Ky., and Karen (Roy) Shook of Berlin Center; a sister, Dolores (Jim) Petrella of Boardman; her grandchildren, who she dearly loved, Dr. Jason (John) Mokrovich, Shelly (Chuck) Colucci, Sherry (Chris) Pater, Captain Justin (Nancy) Mokrovich and Roy (Nicole) Shook; great-grandchildren, Anthony Punkin Fusilla, Brooke Pater, Olivia Pater, Christopher Colucci and Nathan Mokrovich; and friends, Helen Hartman and Jake Kaminski.

John N. Horvath
CAMPBELL There will be services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John Catholic Church for John N. Horvath, who passed away Saturday afternoon at his residence. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
John was born July 6, 1930 in Campbell, a son of the late Nick and Katherine Horvath.
Mr. Horvath worked for the Campbell City Schools for 37 years. He retired in 1997. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
He enjoyed boating, Campbell Memorial football and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 54 years, Margaret Horvath (Maro); two sons, John (Pam) Horvath of Poland and Nick (Barb) Horvath of Campbell; and five grandchildren, Nicole, Brett, Ignatius, Johna and Scarlet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Margie; brothers, Steve, Mike, Nick and sisters, Helen and Mildred.
Mary Humphries, 90
COITSVILLE TOWNSHIP Mary Humphries, 90, died Friday evening, Dec. 29, at Jameson Health System.
She was born Nov. 5, 1916 in Youngstown, the daughter of Nicholas and Marie Vujnovich Orescanin, and lived all her life in the Coitsville area.
Mrs. Humphries was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church in Youngstown.
Her husband, Arthur Humphries Jr., whom she married July 13, 1936, died March 11, 1984.
She leaves two sons, Robert (Toni) Humphries Sr. of New Middletown and John (Kathy) Humphries Sr. of Coitsville Township; six grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant daughter, Anna Marie.

YOUNGSTOWN Stanley G. Kaminski, 54, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Stanley was born Nov. 22, 1952 in Youngstown, a son of Stanley F. and Mary Yarosh Kaminsky and was a lifelong area resident.
He graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School, attended Youngstown State University and was a 25-year veteran of the Youngstown Police Department.
Stanley was a member of St. Christine Church and F.O.P. Lodge No. 8.
He leaves his mother, Mary Kaminsky of Youngstown; a brother, James W. Kaminsky of Youngstown; a nephew, Christopher Kaminsky of Virginia Beach, Va.; a niece Amy Kaminsky of Youngstown; and a great-nephew, James Michael Berick.
His father is deceased.

Ruth N. Knittel, 96
YOUNGSTOWN There will be a service at 11 a.m. Friday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church for Ruth N. Knittel, 96, who died Sunday evening, Dec. 31.
She was born Nov. 24, 1910, Thanksgiving Day, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., a daughter of Clarence and Elizabeth Klitz Weissenstein.
A 1928 Wilkinsburg High School graduate, she attended the Indiana, Pa., State Normal School for two years and received her teaching certificate. She taught fifth grade at Kelly Elementary School in Wilkinsburg.
On June 19, 1937, she married Carl A. Knittel and moved to Youngstown, where her husband was the organist at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and she became a Sunday school teacher.
During her 69 years of marriage, she developed a number of hobbies, notably quilt making and drawing house plans. She did all the contracting for her husband when he built their home on Shawnee Trail and still found time to attend Youngstown State University, graduating magna cum laude in 1966 at age 56. She was employed by the Springfield Local School District in 1967 and taught fifth grade until her retirement in 1974.
She leaves her husband, Carl; three children, Ruth Knittel of Tucson, Ariz., Paul of Japan and Carl Jr. of Milpitas, Calif.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where friends may gather from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

AUSTINTOWN - Frank Kramer, 80, of South Raccoon Road, passed away early Tuesday morning at Hospice House. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Frank was born May 27, 1926 in Williamsburg, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Anna Pidani Kramer, and came to this area as a child.
Mr. Kramer worked for Mill Creek Park and was a foreman at the park's Rose Garden.
He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church and its Golden Pillars and Senior Citizen group. He enjoyed gardening and dancing.
He leaves two sons, Richard (Jane) Kramer of Diamond and James (Laura) Kramer of Youngstown; a daughter, Susan Cook of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Nancy Sernulka of Cortland, Julia Pavis of Liberty Township, Mary Evans of Mesa, Ariz., and Lucy (Steve) Uhlar of Youngstown; and seven grandchildren, James Kramer Jr. and Matthew Kramer, Ashley and Zachary Cook, and Joshua, Nathaniel and Noah Kramer.
His wife, Ann M. Janosik Kramer, whom he married Aug. 21, 1952, died Dec. 24, 1998. A brother, Joseph Kramer; four sisters, Elizabeth Sylvester, Ann Bistarky, Helen Hritz and Elsie Antonoff; and a grandson Albert Kramer, are also deceased.

Carl B. Leet Jr., 88
YOUNGSTOWN Carl B. Leet, 88 of Omni Mannor, died Sunday evening.
Mr. Leet was born Aug. 7, 1918 in Youngstown, a son of Carl B. Sr. and Mae Frances Leet.
The Leet family moved from Connecticut to Vienna in 1803 with the Connecticut Land Company.
He graduated from East High School in 1937 and was employed as a Stationary Engineer at the Rod and Wire Mill of Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Struthers, retiring in 1978 after 41 years. Mr. Leet was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran.
His wife, the former Wilma B. Comsia, whom he married Sept. 10, 1941 died Feb. 24, 2002.
He is survived by two sons, Carl B. (Donna) Leet III of Hubbard and Robert Leet of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Melinda Wilding of Denver, Susan Hawkins-Wilding of Wooster and Billy Leet of Hubbard; and two great-grandchildren, Harrison and Tess Hawkins-Wilding of Wooster.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, William Leet; a daughter, Sandra M. Wilding; a brother, Clarence Leet; and three sisters, Henrietta, Edna and Mae.

Mary was born Aug. 21, 1929, in Youngstown a daughter of Mahalia and Ethelreen Clinkscale.
Her husband, Eugene Lockett Sr., who she married June 21, 1952, were married 45 years until his death in 1997.
Mary leaves two sons, Eugene Lockett Jr. and Arnold Wayne Lockett, both of Youngstown; a daughter, Valarie Kaye Lockett-Jefferson of Cleveland; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Joseph was born Oct. 26, 1926 in Youngstown, the son of Joseph A. and Mary K. (Fink) Millerleile.
He was a self-employed truck driver for 37 years, retiring in 1984. He also worked at Isalys as a truck driver for many years.
He was of the Catholic faith, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII under General Patton in Italy, France and Germany.
From 1962 to 1973, Joe and his family lived in Pomona, Calif. and moved back to the area in 1973. He had resided in North Jackson for the past 20 years.
He leaves his wife, the former Mary Grace Ferreri, whom he married June 28, 1947; four children, Joseph (Martha) of Wausau, Wis., James (Shirley) of Girard, Robert (Melinda) of North Jackson and Linda (Carl) Fife of Austintown; two sisters, Lena Burgess of Columbiana and Theresa Cepa of Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John and Jacob Millerleile.

Elaine was born Nov. 23, 1928 in Youngstown, the daughter of Walter D. and Alice Cregan Mahoney.
After graduating from Ursuline High School, Elaine had worked at Truscon Steel and later was the owner/operator of the Favorite Hostess Shop in the Boardman Plaza from 1951 to 1989. During that time, she had also worked as an independent sales representative for the M.W. Carr company for more than 20 years. She had also worked and retired from CVS Drug stores in Cleveland.
She was a member of St. Christine Church and its choir, former member of St. Latislas Church in Westlake and a member of Quota Club and the Ursuline High School Alumni.
Her husband, John Clair Morton, whom she married April 30, 1955, died Dec. 30, 1999.
She is survived by three sisters, Mary and her husband Francis Hurley, Catherine Guerriero and Jane Mahoney, all of Boardman; a sister-in-law, Elaine Mahoney of Lyndhurst; five nieces; and 11 nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and James A. Mahoney.

Rose Honeycutt Quimby, 99
LEESBURG, VA. Rose Honeycutt Quimby, 99, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at Loudoun Hospital Center.
She was born on April 14, 1907 in Jefferson County, Ala., to the late William Honeycutt and Annie Carden Honeycutt.
Mrs. Quimby was a self-employed caregiver and owned a nursing home in Cortland for 12 years. She was a member of Evergreen Seventh-day Adventist Church in Youngstown.
Her interests included gardening and crocheting. She is remembered as a good mother and as a caring, unselfish and independent woman.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Stratford of Aldie, Va., and Betty Zgonc and her husband, Don, of Willoughby. Additional survivors include a stepson, Sam Quimby and his wife Betty of Austintown; a stepdaughter, Ruth McCoy and her husband William, of Hartford; and a stepdaughter, Dorothy Campbell of Niles; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Quimby was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Bert Quimby; a daughter, Nellie Jo Talley; and a son-in-law, John Stratford.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at the Evergreen Seventh-day Adventist Church in Youngstown, with Pastor Ronald Dillard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in Youngstown.

Jack was born March 19, 1933 in Steubenville, a son of the late Frank and Margaret Coyne Smith, and came to this area in the 1950s.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for G.F. Business Systems for 17 years, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Smith was a member of St. Brendan Church, the Army and Navy Garrison No. 360 and was an avid sports fan and follower of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

James Michael Steiner Sr., 71
NEW CASTLE, PA. James Michael Steiner Sr., 71, of 1203 Wilmington Ave., died Monday afternoon, Jan. 1, at Highland Drive Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
He was born April 30, 1935 in New Castle to James Paul and Mary Emma Ritty Steiner.
Jim was a New Castle High School graduate and attended Youngstown State University. He also attended the Eckles School of Embalming and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
Mr. Steiner was a licensed real estate agent in Ohio and a land developer for home sites in Pennsylvania. His earlier employment included the ownership and operation of Steiner Grocery, Shenango China and GATX. He was nominated for the office of secretary and treasurer for the United Steelworkers Union of Ohio. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of St. Camillus Church.
In 1963, Jim served as an aide to Congressman Thomas Carney. He also held the position of corresponding secretary of the Mahoning County Democrats Club at one time. His interest in politics continued throughout his life.
He is survived by his son, James M. Steiner Jr., and granddaughters, Julia and Anna of Youngstown; his sister, Joanne (John) Duda of New Castle; a sister-in-law, Cathy Steiner of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both his parents; his brother, Harry Paul Steiner; his sister, Mary Irene Haybarger; and his former wife, Anne Fatsich Steiner.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road in New Castle.

John Terlesky, 92
YOUNGSTOWN - John Terlesky, 92, former Youngstown police chief, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, at Park Vista Retirement Center where he had been a resident for the past two years.
He was born June 9, 1914 in Youngstown, the eldest child of the late Wasyl and Anna Terlesky.
Mr. Terlesky graduated from The Rayen School in 1934, where he was a member of its football team, and lived on Youngstowns north side his entire life.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church on Rayen Avenue, where his father was a charter member and helped establish the parish.
Mr. Terlesky joined the Youngstown Police Department in 1941 and rose through the ranks to sergeant in 1950, lieutenant in 1953, and Chief of Detectives in 1962. In 1964, he was appointed Chief of Police by then Mayor Anthony B. Flask, a position he held until 1970. Following Mayor Flasks administration, he returned to the post of Detective Chief until his retirement in 1976.
During his 36-year career, he received numerous citations and recognitions for his work in the department. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police both during his career and in retirement, as well as of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
Mr. Terleskys great interests in life centered around his family, his garden, bowling, and his favorite pastime of golf which he enjoyed for over 75 years. He will be remembered for his wit, humor, wisdom and the love he showed to his family and they take comfort in the knowledge that he provided them with an exemplary life upon which to build.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, William (Nancy) Terlesky of Boardman and Thomas Terlesky (Pat Treganowen) of Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Terlesky of Alexandria, Va., and Jean Kimmel of Poland; five grandsons, William (Anne) Terlesky of Cincinnati, David (Laura) Terlesky of Dublin, Ohio, Atty. James Kimmel of New York City and Andrew Kimmel and Martin Kimmel, both of Columbus; and two great-grandchildren, John William Terlesky and Sofia Katherine Terlesky. He also leaves many nieces and nephews to whom he remained close his entire life.
His wife, the former Ethel Polovischak, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1937, died on March 26, 1980.
He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jill Kimmel; sisters, Mary Terlesky and Ann Cepin; a brother, Michael Terlesky; and a daughter-in-law, Christine Heames Terlesky.

Thomas J. Walker, 83
STRUTHERS Thomas J. Walker, 83 of 572 Maplewood Ave., died Saturday evening at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 30, 1923 in Youngstown, a son of William R and Amelia Henry Walker. He was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Walker retired in 1981 after 30 years from the Youngstown Sheet and Tube, where he worked in the car repair shop in the Campbell Works.
He was a veteran of the Army, where he was a sergeant during WWII serving in the European Theatre for four years, receiving numerous awards and certificates of appreciation from the City of Antwerp.
Mr. Walker was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Youngstown, where he was on the Evangelistic Committee, an usher, past president of the Marsing Sunday School Class and the Mens Club nominating committee, Youngstown Lodge No. 615 F & A.M., where was on the degree team, a 32nd degree Mason of the Youngstown Valley of the Scottish Rite, Aut Mori Grotto, its golf league and the Old Timers and the Poland Masonic Breakfast Club.
He avidly used the CB in 17 CB clubs, was past commander of American Legion Post No. 158, a member AARP, a life member of the Union Retirees, VFW Post No. 3538 and an associate life member of the Telephone Pioneers and their golf league.
He was an avid golfer and a roller skater known as Mr. Lights and was a former member of the Mahoning Valley Polo Club. Mr. Walker was involved with the Youngstown Radio Reading Service for the Blind.
His first wife, the former Thelma Jones Walker, whom he married Sept. 4, 1948, died Feb. 5, 1956.
His second wife, the former Betty Louise Jones, whom he married Aug. 13, 1960 died Jan. 2, 1999.

CORAL, PA Marie T. Zuzga, 51, formerly of Youngstown, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, 2006, at Heartland Hospice House at Mercy Jeannette Hospital in Jeannette, Pa. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marie was born Jan. 2, 1955 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael Jr. and Lucille Barbarotta Vodilko, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1979.
She was a graduate of Chaney High School, was a homemaker and was of the Catholic faith.
Marie leaves a son, Luke Zuzga of Youngstown; her mother, Lucille Vodilko of Youngstown; a brother, Michael III (Laurie) Vodilko of Poland; two nieces, Jennifer Cupp and Allison Vodilko; a nephew, Michael Vodilko IV; and several cousins out of the area.
A son, Joseph Zuzga died at birth. Maries father died in 2002.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, Maries birthday, at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown.
