AUSTINTOWN — A man assaulted four people in a bar then fled before police arrived, according to township police.
The fight occurred at the Brauer Bar and Grill, 40 S. Meridian Road, at 1:48 a.m. Sunday, according to police reports.
The bar was formerly known as Billy's.
The bartender told police she was attacked after getting into an argument over drink chips with the man, who was described in the report as 6 feet 4 inches tall and between 275 and 290 pounds.
The bartender, a 29-year-old Austintown resident, told police the man grabbed her by the neck and jumped over the bar. Then he hit her in the head and in the ribs, she reported.
He overturned bar stools, threw a cash register on the floor and knocked over liquor bottles, the report says.
Three other patrons, two men and a woman, tried to help the bartender. The men were cut in the face. One got his own ride to St. Elizabeth Health Center after the fight, and the other refused treatment, the report says. The woman told police the man hit her, then threatened to go to his car to get a gun and "blow her head off." She also refused medical treatment.
The bartender tried to keep him at the bar, but he fled before police could arrive. The victims wrote down his license number, and police are looking for a suspect.
He had not been arrested as of Monday, they said.
The bartender also refused medical treatment.
