AUSTINTOWN Police arrested five people after a witness reported a burglary-in-progress at a neighbor's house.
A Westminster Avenue man called police about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday when he saw three men get out of a car, enter his neighbor's house and leave with items.
The man gave a description of the car and police stopped a car that matched that description in the neighborhood.
Police saw a loaded revolver in plain sight in the car and confiscated it. No charges were filed in connection with the firearm.
The witness identified two of the car's occupants.
The driver, Chante Perry, 20, of East Auburndale Avenue, and the front-seat passenger, Marquis J. Perry, 19, of Cornell Street, both of Youngstown, were charged with complicity to burglary.
Back-seat passengers Deandre Fant, 19, of Detroit Avenue, and Keith Fant, 18, of East Auburndale, both of Youngstown, were charged with burglary. Tyler D. Williams, 19, of West Boulevard, Boardman, who also was in the back seat, was charged with burglary, cocaine abuse and marijuana abuse.
Police found small plastic bags containing suspected marijuana and suspected cocaine in the car near where Williams was sitting. A police report said Williams admitted to police that the bags were his.
Police also found change, jewelry and other items in the car and in the clothing of some of those arrested.
All five were taken to the Mahoning County jail and are expected to appear in court Monday.
